Camping Information and Reservations

Please note: we have received tremendous interest in camping on site; consequently we will need your full cooperation, patience and consideration to ensure that everyone is accommodated fairly.

With the exception of 2004 Specialty Committee members, no RVs will be permitted on the show site prior to 2:00 pm Friday 13 August.

This lively event promises to get even livelier (bordering on "raucous") when Ron Sebastiani and Ed Bear team up for the "not-so-silent" segments of the auction.

Permanent Identification Clinic

The requirement for permanent identification for each dog is expanding.
DNA profiles positively identify an individual dog and are used for parentage documentation. Frequently used sires, and those where frozen or shipped semen is used, require that a DNA profile is on file.
We can expect in the future that DNA profiles will be required for all breeding animals. DNA profiles ensure the integrity of our pedigrees. Microchip, or other permanent identification, is now required by both OFA and CERF if the dog is to be entered in the AKC database.
In addition, permanent ID will be required for any Border being entered into the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) database. The Canine Health Committee of the AKC Delegate body has suggested that where a microchipped dog has a DNA profile done after the chip is inserted, the chip data be entered in the DNA database. Thus a profiled dog only needs to be scanned in order to prove it is that dog.
The BTCA offers Clinics throughout the Specialty Week (daily times will be posted)
To ensure that we have enough swabs and chips on hand, please E-mail Marg Pough (mbp1@cornell.edu) with the number of dogs for DNA and number of dogs for Microchip
(or snail mail information to: Marg Pough 132 Genung Circle, Ithaca, NY 14850) .
Deadline July 23, 2004
DNA PROFILING: $30 ($5/dog saving)
MICROCHIPPING with Companion Animal Recovery Registration $35

Fun! Fun! Fun! - Ratting for Ratings

Attention all earthdogs, show dogs, performance dogs and especially family pets!

Friday, August 20th
This is an equal opportunity activity that is all about teamwork.
Come and see how well your dog knows his nose, and how well you know your dog. JoAnn Frier-Murze is orchestrating this fun event in which dogs have the opportunity to find safely secured quarry hidden in natural locations and indicate their find to their handlers. No prior experience required.
$5.00 per dog, sign up on the day.

AKC Junior Handler Program

In addition to the regular Junior Showmanship Classes (information in premium list), do not forget the AKC Junior Handler Program for juniors competing in agility, obedience and earthdog. Juniors are responsible for obtaining a JHC Number from the AKC prior to participation. They must also obtain and complete the necessary form and submit it to the judge under whom they qualified for signature. To be eligible for the program, juniors must have trained and handled the dog with which they are competing. Complete information on the program may be obtained from the AKC.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: The T-shirt colours have me puzzled

A: Unfortunately the supplier does not have a web site but we have done our best to provide samples, thanks for your patience and understanding.

Q: I can't eat Shellfish and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who can't. Will there be another option or should I eat somewhere else and come and sit and visit?

A: We tossed this idea around and wondered about providing an alternative but that would likely have been chicken (as per BBQ) so in the end decided to make it a simple choice that was a New England Tradition and hope that people would either bring an alternative and join us or join us after eating
