Last Sunday she passed her NACSW ORT with flying colors. Today she went 4 for 4 in AKC-Novice Exterior (title and 3rd place), Novice Buried, Novice Interior and Advanced Containers.
She is such an excellent worker-not exceptionally fast but methodical and accurate and definitely loving it which is the important thing.

At her very first Scentwork trial Exterior, Abbey found the hide in 22.56 seconds and took 3rd out of a class of 19 dogs.
The judge (Sarah Cowell) said she was a great worker!
She also qualified in Novice Containers and took 4th place there out of 18 dogs (judge Jane Nadelson). She really looked great!
Good girl Abbey and well done Barb, Scentwork is very much a team sport even if the dog is the team leader.

Abbey earned her first two Rally Excellent legs on Friday (May 21st) and Sunday (May 23rd) at the Allentown Dog Training Club and
Berks County Dog Training Club respectively under judge Ms. Diane Stout
On Friday she scored 99 with second place
On sunday she managed a very respectable 98 and held her sit stay despite a huge black lab running circles in the beginner novice ring nearby.

On Saturday (May 22nd) Abbey made her FastCAT debut with two fantastic runs at the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club and Delaware Valley Dalmatian Club tests.
In Barb's words: "Oh my goodness, Abbey LOVED it, took to it like a natural, 2 very nice runs. She started pulling and jumping outside the enclosure!"
Her run times were: 11.55 and 11.47, these translate to 17.7 MPH and 17.8 MPH respectively, thus she has accumulated 53.31 points towards her BCAT title

Abbey earned her 2nd leg in Beginner Novice with a 199 and 2nd place (behind an incredible Golden). Given that they didn't get in the ring until 4:30, the room was crowded with dogs, there was no place to warm up and crates were in another building which was also crowded, Barb was rightly extremely proud of Abbey for holding it together.

Since her she earned this in 3 classes and her first 3 Q's were 190 or above, she was also awarded a Level 1 Award of Excellence
No Surprise - Abbey is officially a Therapy Dog - October 15th, 2015
Barb sums up the three part process
"Last night Abbey passed her therapy certification!
To attain it, she underwent three nights of testing a a local nursing home which involved observations of her with patients, a small obedience test, handling by a stranger, observations of her interactions with other dogs, and an elevator trip in a small elevator filled with dogs/handlers (and the dogs were all a lot bigger than she is which just made her all the happier!).
I'm very proud of this little girl whose natural personality can be over the top with exuberance when she feels like it!!
She was GREAT with the old folks!"

Alliance of Therapy Dogs - October 8th, 2015
Abbey did as well on the second part of her three part test as she did on the first.
This included dealing with a dimly lit room where an oxygen machine was making noises,

Barb says it best
"Last night was the first night of Abbey's therapy test. In Therapy Dogs Inc (now known as Alliance of therapy Dogs), testing is 3 days rather than 1 as in TDI, and 2 of those test dates must be in medical facilities.
I've done both tests (TDI and this one), and, in my mind, this is a better indicator of how a dog will actually do as a therapy dog.
The dogs first undergo a hands on screening with the tester-similar to TDI to see how they greet a stranger, how they do with ears touched, paws touched , tails grabbed. Small dogs are picked up and hugged closely as some of the patients try to do.
Then you have to show just basic obedience skills: heels, turns, sits. Other dogs are around during these first exams.
Then you go out on the floor to visit patients, and the tester has a checklist of things to look for with you and with the dog.
I can't tell you how proud I was of Abbey...she was a rock star!!!! She has a high spirited nature (to say the least), but, despite some initial excitement over seeing the other dogs(including her basset playmate), she was absolutely wonderful with the tester and even more wonderful with the old folks at the nursing home.
One woman who was crying out for help stopped doing so the minute she saw Abbey and put her arms out to her. I put Abbey on the bed next to her, and she was so gentle with the lady who just loved her and the attention.
Abbey wasn't phased by wheel chairs or any other sights and sounds seen/heard in a nursing home even though she's never been in one before.
Amazing how dogs can sense these things! "
WCRL (World Cynosport) Sanctioned Indoor Rally Trials - K9Jym, Colmar, PA - September 13th, 2015
Abbey made her official competition debut in two Cynosport Rally Trials and a very nice debut it was too.
With a score of 205, and first place in the first trial (she earned the bonus on that one) and 197, second place in the second trial.
I believe this was also Barb's debut in the sport of rally so kudos to a great team.
