December - Well if last month was busy, this one was even busier

More shows, trials and tests so the brag pages have once again been busy.

For my part, the shows and trials were combined with some really fun trips to Toronto, Hellertown PA and Ottawa.

Lots of birthdays this month with Rollie and Casey marking their 8th birthday. Bindi, Colin, Teddy and Hazel all celebrated their 12th birthday. Dot, Bonus, and Baxter turned 11 and Schemer hit double digits at 10 years of age. And... drumroll please! Scrimmage reached a major milestone celebrating her 18th birthday in Arizona.

As we head into Christmas we continue to send good vibes to those members and their dogs facing health and other challenges.

Happy 18th Birthday Scrimmage

Amazing light display in Hellertown, PA

Siblings, Digger and Keltic, enjoyed a very successful weekend in Ontario.

Boomer, Digger, Abbey and Midge enjoying Pennsylvania sunshine

Boomer enjoyed hanging out with brother Archie in Ottawa, except for the photos

November - A Very Busy Month

With shows, trials and tests of so many kinds, the brag pages have been very busy.

There was also more good news on the puppy front when Daniele Trottier's J-Lo gave birth to four boys and one girl on November 12th. (sired by Anne Geal's Geordie) You can see the litter pedigree, puppy pics, etc. here.

Nothing will ever take away the heartache of the loss of Mimi and every litter from here on in will have is poignancy, but we can rejoice in new life while remembering those lost.

November also saw Gryzia relocating to Halifax for the winter and I was able to spend 11 days in Atlantice Canada while she settled in.

"Hey! That's my favourite toy!"
Felek has mixed feeling about this dark haired girl from Poland

Happy 4th birthday to Finlay
Oh my! Where have the years gone?
He has done Maisie and Gunter proud

Look Out!!! They're teenagers!!!!

Happy 13th birthday to the "Magnificent Seven".

The last year has not been without its challenges for some of our 2002 "pups" and we are eternally grateful that they have owners willing to go that extra step.

It is also a testament to their owners that their emotional as well as physical welfare is first and foremost. Some are still competing because that is what they love and they can, others have retired from much loved activities because it was time but their lives continue to be eriched in other ways.

My heartfelt thanks to you all and especially to Jacqueline for helping me bring the "Magnificent Seven" into the world.

Time for some sunshine

This has been a heartbreaking year but, thankfully, there have been moments of joy as well.

In September we welcomed two new four-legged members to the extended Jansim Jottings "family".

Two of the four lovely Felek-Willow puppies have joined our ranks.

Dora welcomed Ivy (Greywoode Auburn Owl) into her home and Mary-Ellen and Jon Harper were thrilled to take Scout (Grewoode Ottawa Owl) home to Ottawa.

Ivy is going to keep Dora (and Bonus) on their toes

Scout will never replace Newman but he will help fill the void.

There are no words!!!!

Two more unexpected losses have hit the JJ group hard.

On July 28th Andrea and Richard had to say goodbye to their sweet Sophie. She overcame several challenges in her life thanks to the devotion of her owners, but this last challenge could not be overcome.

On August 3rd the unthinkable happened. Mel's beloved Mimi collapsed and died taking her six unborn puppies with her to the bridge. The devastation of this loss is truly beyond expression.

Happy 18th birthday Tristan!!

The end of an era

Since being founded in 1994, The New Jersey Beanfield Earthdogs club has held annual events at Village Green Farm in Crosswicks, NJ, the home of Lothlorien Working Terriers.
Jo Ann Frier-Murza and her husband Steve raised two sons, several litters of Border Terriers and a variety of livestock on the beautiful property.
The boys have long since established their own lives out West and Steve and Jo Ann are planning a new home in Arizona.
All this to say that the Beanfielders will be looking for a new venue and possibly a new direction.
This year's Beanfield Spring Festival was a wonderful curtain call on this chapter in the club's story and we were lucky enough to be able to attend.

Barb and Abbey came to play on Saturday - games day...

...and Midge came too of course!
It was great to see them.

Midge waves goodbye to Village Green Farm

Chris also came with Fred and Sophie

Fred loves the camera...

...Sophie not so much!

Two Norfolks try the New Jersey Junkyard Challenge

A brace of Bedlingtons get down to business

Time for a couple of Borders to give it a bash

Scrimmage, the current Grand Dame of Lothlorien....

....she is still a character with a sense of canine humour.

And Chisel, hunter and house dog par excellence

A [pear] of pineapple rats add just the right touch...

....and Margaret has the touch when it comes to Margaritas

This "takes the cake" and says it all!!
A fitting mantra for the NJBE

Thanks for the memories!
So many memories!
Good dogs,
good people,
good fun,
good sport.

Wishing you all the very best and may our paths continue to cross.

More heartache

Heartfelt condolences to all the JJ members who have suffered the loss of a loved one; two legged or four.
This year has already been exceptionally tough and with so many "silvers" in our group we know there is more heartache to come.
We cannot dwell on the inevitability of loss for that robs us of precious time to enjoy the present.
If we do nothing else, we should take time each day to do one small thing that brings a wag to a dog's tail and a smile to a friend's face.

Grooving to the Doobie Brothers, or is Loki pretending they don't exist?

Zeke says there's nothing like a comfy bed and a cold beer....

...at the end of a long day. Lokie settles for the comfy "bed"!

We interrupt the 2015 BTCA National Specialty Trip for important birthday greetings

May 05, 2015 - Happy 12th Birthday and Cinco de Mayo to the Danny - Sky pups:

Zeke,

and Higgs

On May 6th, Robyn (a.k.a. The Whippety Thing) officially became a veteran when she celebrated her 7th birthday by denning Mr. (or it might have been Mrs.) Groundhog.

Where have the years gone?

Close call!!

BTCA National Specialty Trip 2015 - from the JJ Members lucky enough to be going

Zeke paying close attention to......goodness knows what!

...while Loki enjoys a great vantage point.

But at the end of the day it is all a bit too much

Loki and Gremlin approve of the Host Hotel ...

Even the bed gets top marks with Tony's tum for added comfort

Scrimmage is more interested in critter smells than the Sierra Nevada scenery

Nothing like a cozy snuggle after along day on the road

Loki seems unimpressed by the backdrop of Mount Shasta

Loki watching out for MMmZ who are hopefully headed their way!

Scrimmage finds exploring Arches National Park a tad tiring.

Rigby relaxing and just living in the moment.

Gremlin and Loki take advantage of a motel at the start of their trip

Gremlin enjoying the first night tenting on route

Scrimmage at 10000 feet in the Rockies!

April 2015 - will spring ever be sprung

Bonus has "the look" down pat
"It's cold. It's damp. You pulled out all my hair. And now you say the electric throw is not for the dog?"

Maryland looks promising but even they have had their share of the chills. Fells may be enjoying the sun but he still looks grateful for his winter wear

Meanwhile, in Halifax, a trip to the dog yard is more like a game of "King [make that queen] of the mountain" for Maggie and Tinker,

March 2015 - a month of heartbreaking loss

Dora's beloved Lizzie sadly left for her "Big Adventure" on March 16th, 2015 at the grand age of 18yrs 8mths
We invite you to take a trip down memory lane with Lizzie's slide show

The Border Terrier world lost a dedicated worker, true friend and all round great person when Lyn Stahl Bolt was taken from us suddenly on March 18th, 2015.
A formal tribute to Lyn will be forthcoming

We also mourn the loss of a gracious lady and very special JJ member, Anna Fraser who passed away March 21st, 2015
The 2015 Border Terrier Canada National Specialty will be dedicated to Anna

February 2015 - the indomitable Border Terrier Spirit

Lizzie has no intention of participating in the "Maine" [Winter] Event

Lexi soaking up some winter sun and proving once again that there is "no place like home"

Maggie is a long way from home but knows how to "live in the moment".

2015 seems intent to follow right on from 2014 in the challenge department.
Our dogs live in the moment and in difficult times we must learn to cherish the moment.
Here are some January moments well worth cherishing.

The best seat in the house for Boomer to watch out for squirrels

Where's Anna going to sit?
Felek, Hazel, Maggie and Tinker don't seem concerned

Why bother sitting when you can curl up on top of a Border for extra padding
